The post depicts “Islam” as a snake squeezing a cowboy’s leg, with a knife labeled “solution” being used to kill it.
Commissioner Miller commented on the post by saying, “It is about that time.”
The Texas chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-TX), on Sunday slammed the post.
CAIR-TX asked Miller to apologize for the threatening post and to meet with Muslim community leaders.
The comments of his followers included, “Start cut’n and gut’n, fry’m up in pork grease and served up with pork n beans with biscuits!” and “Better hurry their numbers are growing fast!” Other commenters cited supportive scripture verses, such as “…do not leave alive anything that breathes” and expressed readiness for a new crusade.
Miller’s violent post came one day after CAIR-TX welcomed a guilty plea by a woman who attempted to drown a three-year-old Muslim girl to death in Euless but expressed disappointment at the relatively light sentence imposed.
In a statement, Shaimaa Zayan the Operations Manager of CAIR-Texas, Austin said:
“The graphic and the accompanying comment dangerously suggest that violence is an appropriate and necessary response to the presence of Islam or Muslims in society. The portraying of Islam—a religion practiced by some two billion people around the world and hundreds of thousands of Texans—as a ‘threat’ to be eradicated is not only deeply Islamophobic but also incites violence and hatred against the Muslim community.
“Roughly an hour later posting this Islamophobic comment, Commissioner Miller shared a separate post—this time asking God to bring peace to our world. We’re left to wonder: what exactly is Mr. Miller’s definition of peace? And more importantly, does it include Muslims? Or are we excluded from the peaceful world he envisions?”

“CAIR-TX calls on state leaders to publicly repudiate commissioner Miller’s hate-filled post and to demand an apology. We emphasize that elected officials are expected to promote peace, safety, and unity; and professionally discuss real issues and their strategic solutions.
“Scapegoating is only used by weak politicians as a tool of distraction from accountability; and it is a sign of failure. Muslims are not a threat. We are doctors, professors, lawyers, business owners, public servants, and an essential part of the Texan and US fabric. This post is a part of a disturbing pattern of Texas officials’ Islamophobic and divisive statements over the past year.”
